SynopsisInto its 6th year, the Junior College Band Festival showcases band members from various Junior Colleges performing under the baton of internationally-renowned conductors Kikuo Atarashi from Japan, Joseph Cheung from Hong Kong and locally based Prof Alan Lourens to present a spectrum of colourful music from different cultures and genre. Repertoireincludes Folk dance by D. Shostakovich, Armenian Dances Pt 1 by Alfred Reed and many more.Having conducted the Tenri High School Band for the past 27 years, Kikuohas not only taught and groomed many outstanding musicians, but has alsodirected the band to garner several championships for the annual All Japan Band Contest.Joseph, an experienced and passionate music educator, has been the President of the Hong Kong Band Directors' Association and has conducted numerous bands in Canada, Hong Kong, and mainland China.Currently the Pro-Vice President- Strategic of LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts, Dr Alan Lourens is a Conductor and Low Brass performer throughout Asia, Australia and the US.More details on www.wasbe.org.sg/DURATION: Approx 2 hrsInterval: Approx 20 minsLanguage: N.A.
