The Road Not Taken
by: Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the tother, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy ans wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference.

+Promiscuous Behaviour+
Hello people! First of all, this entry would somehow be a little bit controversial. So all those parties involved, I apologize over what I will say in this entry.
So what is there gonna be in this entry that might or would upset some of you out there? Well, I’ve decided to touch on Racial discord in this entry. Yes! Racial discord, as in like putting myself in a racist’s point of view.
Anyway, the other day, well at night actually, my mom and I just came back from Tan Tock Seng Hospital to visit my dad there. We alighted at Admiralty MRT station and we were greeted by a Chinese man and an Indian guy. Well, not greeted actually, we were sort of nearby, heading away from the scene. But from what I saw and heard, the Chinese man was like shouting towards the Indian guy (I think the Indian sort of bumped into him). Of course, the Indian apologized (from what I can see la) but somehow, the Chinese man continued shouting his lungs out at the Indian Man. Although I was not the one either shouting or apologizing, I was damned pissed la! F*cking Hell la! The guy apologized, but why must you continue shouting madly at him. This reminds me of the stereotypical thinking of people of different skin color can’t mix together, like the Blacks being outcasted by the Whites in America then, and the Chinese and the Malays here in Singapore in the post-independence years of Singapore. I know that there are a few of us who are still in this ‘racist way of thinking’ We have to get out of it or else there’ll be problems ahead.
But I do know that some of us disagree with what I just said, but come on la, I’m sure all of us had a fair number of moments when we despised another race. Like me for example. I had a number of times when I had insults for other races, and eeks!, towards the Malays as well! Somehow, I believe that the Western influence kind of brought this problem about. We tend to act like selfish beings now as we get influenced by the mass media and of course, the Western culture. Where else could we have learnt of violence, immoral behavior and sex? I am glad that we are not being as conservative as we were back then, but don’t you think it’s a little too much? Have we, over the years, lost or have forgotten our Religious teachings and moral practices? Have we as people grow more to be like wild animals instead of civilized homosapiens? What’s happening people??
Us Malays, we’ve been raised to be conservative, religious and morally proper people. But I am quite disappointed to see many Malays nowadays, especially teenagers, behaving like uncivilsed, disrespectful and rude beings! I see malay girls with short skirts, barebacks, spaghetti straps, low cut jeans and tight shirts with less clothing in front traipsing down the streets, guys with pierced noses, ears, tongues, tattoos all over the body, walking like ‘ah bengs’ along the streets of Orchard Road, is definitely a very disgraceful thing to see. Come on people! Us Muslims have been termed as the Terrorists by some states, and with how the Malays I mentioned behaves, it will bring down the name of us Malays! Memang la! Semua perempuan yang nak dedahkan badan dan lelaki-lelaki yang kurang ajar, sedar la sikit! Cakap aje budak Melayu, tapi perangai macam setan! Macam mana Melayu nak maju macam gini? Kalau nak act sexy tu, bukak ajelah baju kat depan khalayak ramai, don’t waste money buying those ‘little-clothing’ clothes! So much for being a Malay! Don’t be promiscuous la!
Why am I acting like this? First of all, I’m a Malay. Though I’m not exactly pure Malay (I’m part Boyanese part Bugis), I still have Malay blood running through my veins. With all the talk that Malays are being rebellious nowadays, just makes me squirm with utter shame! I love the Malay culture, though my Malay language isn’t that strong, but I do love the culture. It’s also sad to have people saying that they wish NOT to be Malay. Why don’t you just wish that you weren’t even born into this world?
So people, I think all of us should do our very own soul searching and truly respect our different cultures before respecting the others. How can we respect the others if we can’t respect ourselves. So come on people, let’s work on ourselves, then together as one to really fulfill the ‘Multi-Cultural Society’ that we ought to be.
Once again, I’m sorry if any of you reading this felt offended either directly or indirectly. Hope this entry would not make you to hate me. But please do keep coming to my blog yar! =)
